Frank van Mastwijk of the FVM Racing Team has ridden two races in the past four weeks. At the end of May he went out in round five of the Dutch Open Championship Series at Emmercompascuum. Despite a little bit of rain in the morning the track was well prepared before practice started. In practice everything went well for van Mastwijk and he set the 8th fastest time.
In the first moto he took a good start and went into the first corner in sixth position. After a few corners he moved up to fifth position and managed to held on to this position for a few laps. Than he got passed and dropped back to sixth position again. Because of arm pump he had to lower the pace and dropped back to tenth position. In the final lap disaster struck the rider from Zevenhoven. He got stuck in a rut and lost another three positions to finish the race in 13th position.
In the second moto he took a good start as well and started the race in seventh position. In the beginning of the race he managed to follow the first five riders and made a gap over himself and the riders behind him. During the race he worked himself up to fifth position and managed to consolidate the gap over himself and the sixth place rider. In the second part of the race the sixth place rider started to put the pressure on Frank and managed to pass him. Frank stayed calm and was riding a smart race. After a well ridden race he crossed the finish line in sixth position.
Frank finished ninth overall and sits in 13th position in the championship standings. On the 28th of August the series continues at Oss.

Last weekend the rider from Zevenhoven participated in a huge motorsportevent in Nieuw Vennep. Over 600 riders were participating in this event. Practice was on Friday and the circumstances were perfect. Frank was able to set the second fastest time. The weather changed dramatically and just before the first moto it started to rain. The track became really muddy and slippery. In the first moto he took a good start and came out of the first corner in second position. He tried to follow the leader but because he had made a wrong tyre choice he had to let him go. During the race he was under pressure from the third place rider. Frank made a few mistakes and this cost him his position. Frank couldn’t pass him back and had to be satisfied with third position.
The track circumstances were a lot better in the second moto. The sun was shining and the track was dry. Frank took the holeshot and managed to make a gap over himself and the second place rider. Frank controlled the race but in the closing stages of the race the second place rider started to close down the gap. Frank picked up the pace again and managed to win the second moto.
With a 3-1 in the motos he took the overall win in Nieuw Vennep.
